Indiana Deaf History Museum
Through the Sam H. Jones Community Service Scholarship, I conducted a needs and SWOT assessment identifying potential intersections between the museum’s needs and the IUPUI Museum Studies curriculum. I focused on museum collections priorities of rehousing artifacts, organizing and describing contents of the archive, extensive handling of paper media, and establishing a database for the collection. I assisted in the installation of an exhibit in Fall 2018 and in Spring 2019, developed and designed an exhibit hosted at the Indiana State Library.

Creating inventories for a number of personal collections from alumni at the Indiana School for the Deaf at the Indiana Deaf History Museum

At the beginning of my internship, I worked on repairing graduation posters. Many of the photographs of students had fallen off, were loose, or the original adhesives were causing issues. During this time, I also cross-referenced the graduates with anonymous social photographs in the collection.
